Thursday Cheers and Jeers

In the spirit of the season, here's a look at who has been naughty (and not in the fun way), and who has been nice over the past seven days.

Nice
  • Locker Talk guests. Let's face it, people are very busy this time of year. We certainly appreciate it when folks take time out of their busy lives to talk sports on a local community channel tv show, especially at Christmas time.
  • Paul Woldu. I may not be thrilled that the Montreal Alouettes have won the last two Grey Cups, but knowing this young man (from Regina, no less) is about to collect his second championship ring softens the blow a bit. He's a class act.
  • Deja Vu. I made my first trip to this Moose Jaw eatery last weekend. The service and the food were excellent.
Naughty
  • Sears Canada. The great treadmill saga continues. Six weeks and counting. Inept isn't even a strong enough word to describe the staggering, mind-numbing incompetence I've been subjected to.
  • Sports message boards. They are overrun by the dregs of society, including the chronically bitter and the exceptionally unintelligent. And yet, I keep reading them. What does that say about me?
  • Regina sports organizations (one rhymes with"Rats") that can't be bothered to return phone calls. Impressive? Not so such.
Want to add some names to either list? Go ahead, 'tis the season!

I always like to get into the spirit!

Nice:

Kendra, the wonderful woman who grooms my dogs. She was very understanding when I forgot an appointment last week, despite her call the evening before. She called me at work to make sure everything was okay. That, and the gifts for the dogs -- I heartily recommend her to everyone.

My neighbour, who once more was sweet enough to snow-blow my driveway. It's because of him that I don't have to worry about whether I'll be able to get out of my driveway in the morning!

Naughty:

Bushwakkers. I understand that last weekend was a busy time, because the mead was out and folks wanted some before it ran out. However, that's no excuse for snapping at customers. I've never before been at a table where a waitress reamed out the customers for putting their drinks on the menus. Not to mention that, because of the mead, the place was so busy and loud we could hardly hear each other talk.

I'd like to add another Nice for Joanne, who was nice enough to get to Bushwakkers at 3:40 to get us a table. I know what it's like to hold a table for 12 alone in that place for over an hour.
