(Day after) Monday musings

Sorry for the delays and shortage of posts. There is a LOT going on in my personal and professional lives right now. A lot.

  • You don't mess with the relationship between Pete and Jacob. You just don't.
  • That's all I choose to say about that particular subject for the time being.
  • Mats Sundin scores the shootout winner against the Leafs in his return to Toronto. He always did have a flair for the dramatic.
  • The Pats playoff hopes remain alive after a pair of wins over Moose Jaw on the weekend.
  • Tonight, the Pats face a much tougher test in Swift Current.
  • Thanks to Mike Larson for finding me a parking spot reasonably close to my new office. However, I'm already missing the subsidized parking at my previous job.
  • So the Eric Tillman case will drag on until at least mid-March. I suspect it'll wrap up just before the start of CFL training camp.
  • I don't know any more than you do about this case, and it's driving me crazy!
  • The NHL trade deadline approaches. Will the Leafs try to sell off a couple of assets, such as Pavel Kubina and Nik Antropov? They probably should.
  • Which Canadian NHL team is the closest to being a Stanley Cup contender right now? I'd have to say the Calgary Flames. But Montreal could still be heard from, if Kovalev's head is back on straight.
  • I am really looking forward to this upcoming weekend with the munchkin. Really. A lot.

(Day after) Monday musings

Four day weekends are good. Playing catch-up the first day back is not as good:

  • So the Riders lost a few free agents. Big whoop.
  • The "sky is falling" attitude of many Rider fans is quite simply ridiculous.
  • Turnover is the only constant in the salary cap world. Get used to it.
  • Now, if you want to wring your hands about a team - lets talk about the Pats.
  • Actually, let's not. Their performance doesn't deserve it.
  • Okay, but just for a second. The Pats as a group play with no heart - no commitment to the logo on the front of their jerseys.
  • There are exceptions to that rule. Just not enough of them.
  • I only beat my boy by six strokes in miniature golf yesterday. Either I'm really bad (5 over par), or he's closing the gap faster than I'm comfortable with.
  • I start my new job in six days. I'll miss this place, but I'm also looking forward to a new opportunity.
  • The only U of R teams still in the hunt for national titles are the men's and women's basketball squads, and men's hockey. Women's basketball has the best shot.
  • So, has everyone heard Mitchell Blair's replacement on CJME? Anyone else creeped out by how much this guy sounds like Wray Morrison? Is Rawlco into human cloning?
  • I would like to drive a Cadillac CTS. Please give one to me.
  • Pretty please?

Monday musings

I leave town for a few days, and all hell breaks loose!

  • Seriously, are the Saskatchewan Roughriders cursed? How else do you explain what's been happening ever since the 2007 Grey Cup?
  • I personally think Eric Tillman is far too smart to do anything as stupid as what he's accused of.
  • Still, smart guys have done stupid things before (see: Pete Paczko's dating history)
  • I can't get over how unfailingly polite people were in Houston, Texas. Apparently southern hospitality is not a myth!
  • Houston Rockets center Yao Ming is one big sonofabitch!
  • An NBA game is an entertainment experience. Constant action during every stoppage in play.
  • I see the Regina Pats haven't pulled out of their tailspin yet. What a waste of a promising season.
  • Leafs 5, Canadians 2. All is well.
  • Looking forward to seeing young Jacob tonight. A week apart is far too long!
