Thursday Cheers and Jeers

And we're back with another spine-tingling edition of Thursday Jeers and Cheers, where we salute providers of exceptional service, and draw attention to those who..........well, suck. I'll start:

Cheers

  • Provincial Auto Body. They do excellent work, and Laurie is a great guy (who just might show you the bullet hole in the ceiling if you ask nicely).
  • Venice Tailors. Again, excellent work at a good price. Manuel is close to becoming the official clothier of SportZone on Access 7.
  • Adrenaline: Regina Sports. It's the new local sports magazine/website launched by Regina's Julie Folk. I'll always support any efforts to profile local sports, teams and athletes.

Jeers

  • City of Regina. I'm all for doing some long overdue road work, but it's now almost impossible to get from the Normandy Heights area to downtown. And getting back is even worse!
  • Regina Pat Canadians. The expression "gong show" comes to mind.
  • Mosaic Stadium concessions. The pre-Rider game burgers and pizza were quite tasty at the start of the year. The quality has slipped considerably since then.

And here's one that fits in both categories: Bon Jovi will play in Regina next July 28th (cool, in a kitschy way), which will be right in the middle of our annual trip to Ontario (darn). Oh well, life will somehow have to go on!

Okay, your turn!

Cheers:

Inside Pitch Baseball Academy: The best kept secret when it comes to training Baseball players of all ages in Regina. If your kid doesn't show remarked improvement working with these guys there's something wrong with him

Paradise Mini Golf: This never gets old, and it's so relaxing to just play a round then go to a movie if you choose. If you're a child of the 80's then taking your kid to this place really has that "retro" feel that is hard to describe.

Steeped About Tea:
I really hope this place lasts in the Vic Mall. You can't get that product anywhere. It is high end blended teas at really good prices. You want to fight off flu? Drink a lot of tea. Perfect for Christmas coming up.

Jeers:
Regina Pats:
It's a cheer if you are looking for a night out, and can't decide on a movie or bowling. If you are a fan then basically know you're getting ripped off, and just paying for his B.C cabin upgrades because this team will never and I mean never ever get out of first gear under this regime. Chad Lang gets fired in MJ after a few short years? Dale Derkatch gets dropped after one? This guy stays after 15years with that record...go figure.

There will be no mud-slinging by me! Although a 1-7-1 record might be some indication of how things are going over there...

Pat C's were a force when Dunn, Callander and Parenteau were coaching them in the early to mid 90's. Fun to play for them, best coaches I had all through my hockey career(junior, university)

Cheers

Clark's Luggage and Shoe Repair - they repair almost anything from hockey gear to baseball stuff. Their prices are so low, I'm not how they make money.
Second Cup on Rochdale - new owner, good guy
