A while ago a poster said that Vanstone was a shamless promoter of Derkatch for the Pats coaching job. I didn't want to believe it but it is so true. In one breath he says Habscheid "should" be the guy and gives him a mild endorsement. The next day he says Derkatch is the leading candidate and goes on to gush about his attributes. He glosses over the fact he has never coached above midget, has always had the best talent in Canada, has never competed nationaly or internationaly. He even slanted the Habscheid article to intimate that he would only be here a short time. Shockey, Tisdale, Molleken, and Preston were only here for a year. Hunt left after only four. I am beginning to disrespect his articles more and more. Where is Perkins in all of this? I bet he doesn't feel too good reading all of this crap by RV. I doubt Perkins would want to stay and be Derkatch's understudy..lol! Maybe Perkins would want to stay and teach Derkatch about the WHL..farce. I suspect if Habscheid doesn't get the job it would be because he controls his dressing room, and wins. Perhaps Brent is not too comfortable with those attributes. To think a midget coach is going to come in and replicate his midget numbers or playing days success is just stupid. Perkins scored 60 goals in the WHL.

Habscheid really is the most qualified person for the job. Hopefully he's a good "fit" with the organization (ie: Brent). If not, then it will definitely be one of the other guys, both of whom I like personally.

Sadly you are right! Parker and his ownership have not produced an elite team in 15 years. The last four years have produced nothing much under Hunt. It appears that Parker is going to hire someone he feels he can control (I believe you call it "FIT"). I for one believe that they will hire Derkatch, lose Perkins, piss off Habscheid all so Parker can stoke his friggin ego. Caldwell from the WHL blog put it very well that based on qualifications and ability, Habscheid is infinitely more qualified. Derkatch has only a few years in the Dub as a player to his credit.

It just goes to show how unbelievably arrogant and stupid Brent Parker can really be. He doesn't see a golden opportunity looking him square in the eye. The most recent reports that Parker is leaning towards Derkatch, a midget type coach is unthinkable. Why not hire the midget coach of the Winnipeg Thrashers, who actually won the Telus Cup Regionals?

If the hiring does happen, it will not be the most popular one from the fans perspective. It may make a couple of reporters giddy but a midget coach with an inexperienced staff will meet with diaster. This will be his most stupid hiring of all time and clearly shows why the man should sell the team. Lets face it, he will never manage a team to a Memorial Cup.
