Any requests?

A new year means changes for Regina's favourite one-hour cable tv sports talkshow, the critically acclaimed SportZone on Access 7. In the works are a new set, new intro and new music. These are all welcome changes. No, no plans for a new host - shaddup!

So, I put it to those of you in the Regina viewing area - any other changes you'd like to see? Are there any sports, teams and/or personalities you'd like to see profiled on the show? Are there any sports, teams and/or personalities you could do without? Would you like us to go "on location" more often (ie: ever)?

I know, giving the viewers what they want is a crazy concept. But maybe it's just crazy enough to work.

I hope the holidays were good to you. I got a couple of presents, both two sizes too big.
On Location seems to be a popular medium these days. Running commentary while the film is running is enjoyable. The Prarie Fire, The Red Sox, Pat C's, would all be good story material.

Good to finally see a couple of Pats at a prospect game. Its been quite a while. The jury is still out on the Pats. They say they can challenge for top, but they will have to get on a hell of a streak. If they get red hot maybe, if they get cold again even making a playoff spot might be tough. Getting the head coach back is important because this team in most areas doesn't resemble the "on paper" team of three yrs ago. Rowatt palyed well against the Wheaties Jan 1, but wow the team was sure flat. I guess it doesn't matter much because they don't ask how just how many!

This part of the season is going to be tough and the team had better respond soon. Moose Jaw has already had a better west swing than Pats did. That team has improved a lot and the boys have a lot of games with them. Saskatoon a good young group, PA is better with Deckert and Swift Current just keeps hanging in there. It is going to be tough tough. If they start playing tighter defense, it would be a good start.

Broncos 9 Pats 0

My request is for the team to win 2 in a row.

Which excuse this time!

-we played better than the score indicates
-we have great talent, just not meshing
-the goalies actually played pretty well

Strueby said the team wasn't ready to play!!!!! Just playing Brandon and having another battle against a team above you and your not ready, who is to blame for that?

40 games into the season and you are losing 9-zip to a divisional rival. 6-16 on the road. Wow

There are some serious problems on that team. It is not all at the player level either!

Goaltending remains a problem..hell Slade is starting to look good!!! Our defense has played soft all year and continues to do so. We can't score on the road. What in the world is going on. This team is not a contender at all. They may miss the playoffs yet.

I wish I could disagree with even one point you made. Just one. But I can't. I'll check out the carnage for myself tonight.

Here's a thought - if they get blown out again, I wouldn't be upset to see a couple of "for next year" deals before the Wednesday deadline. Maybe Kyle Ross deserves the chance to finish his WHL career on a contender?

I completely agree on moving a couple of 20 yr olds, although I doubt the Pats would. If they had been .500 or above when the trades were made and started a run, maybe not. But being so much below .500 at this point in the season tells me that this team is next year country. They will have to play somewhere around .700 just to get back to .500 by seasons end. That is NOT going to happen. They could make the playoffs, if lucky, but they are not going far.

Festerling has a brother on the Giants and they have a 20 yr old spot. Other teams would pay handsomely for Ross. I don't think Deck would draw much interest with his bad knee.

Regardless if they get beat tonight or not, their overall play is not been great. Particulary when it comes to road games. The question remains! How far can this team really expect to go? You do have to win playoff games on the road to be a Champion. This years edition seems to be missing something, so logically the management should be looking long term. Chris Hodges made a comment that the Pats may be sellers rather than buyers at the deadline. I agree with you that unless your are a serious challenger right now, the time to plan for next year may be here already.

Here's a thought!

-Maybe send Tommy T back to the Giants!

-trade Festerling and Ross as a pair and get back a high end 18 or 19 yr old for this and next year. Those two guys could take a team over the hump. They traded Josh Harding so I don't see why they couldn't trade those guys.!

-bring a couple of journeymen 20 yr old for the balance and play the crap outa the 16 and 17 yr olds. The like of Cole Simpson may still be out there.
