Penguin Pat?

You know, so much time has been spent wondering if Pat Quinn will be the new head coach of the Ottawa Senators that another logical destination has been largely overlooked.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are underachieving in a big way this season. Quinn likes coaching an uptempo style, and seems to work pretty well with young talent - case in point Team Canada at the world junior tournament. So, maybe it won't be Senator Quinn, but Pat the Penguin. Crazier stuff has happened.

How about..........(PAT)HABSCHEID

Maybe a good choice as new director of hockey operations locally.

The Pats are another team sorely underachieving this year

We needed vteran D and toughness so we traded Kulchar and Kennedy for Czibere who is now a minus player as a 19 yr old. Is he 20 yr old material? We trade Bosch for Prokop while lesser goalies were traded this year for 3rd round picks. Does anyone think we could get a 3rd pick for Prokop or better yet; does anyone think he can make this team next year with the way he skates. Then we get nothing for Hill, Elder or Doucett...sheesh....Some of the players they were traded for are still going strong. Then we have to trade a draft pick to fill our 20 yr old spot. Then we have to trade a player and another draft pick to get some speed. Didn't we learn a lesson two years ago against the Tigers. Apparently not. No real good young talent. Favreau hasn't scored yet, Mulder only 2 goals. No NHL draft calibre young d-men.(one shouldn't have been here this year and now isn't). Weal, Hood, and Ketlo(?) maybe the only young players with potential. Where's the future?

Under a Midget AAA coach this team has become under achievers, undisciplined, un-structured and possibly un-playoffed. Many people seen this coming but were po-pooed. At this stage of the year to not have a handle on penalties, work ethic, special teams, is unforgiveable. Look at the tumble we have taken over the last few months. What is the common denominator? Beginning to look like another wasted year.

The Leafs should go after Quinn.

Amazingly, his era is now looking like the good ol' days.

Sad, but true.
