London calling
You can add my home town London Knights to the list of legitimate Memorial Cup contenders. The Knights are already one of the top teams in the country, but trailed the Windsor Spitfires for top spot in the OHL. Today, the Knights acquired John Tavares, the MVP of the 2009 World Junior Championship, from the Oshawa Generals. The Generals also sent defenceman Michael Del Zotto - a first round pick of the New York Rangers - to London. Well done Knights!

They gave up a kings ransom but have become one of the favourites to win the Mem Cup. I think the Hunters are running the Knights like Hay and Bonner are running the Giants, or for that matter Kisio in Calgary. The Knights won the Memorial Cup, had a couple of average years and are now back on top again. These excellent organizations prove very clearly that you don't have to wonder aimlessly for 5 years after a memorial cup appearance (take notes Regina Pats). Vancouver had a year hiatus and are now back on top. Calgary is always near the top. Makes a person wonder why we can only make the 2nd round twice in 15 friggin years. You have to look for common denominators.
