No Maas! No Maas!

Thanks to former boxer Roberto Duran for providing today's headline. So, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are pinning their hopes on Casey Printers to lead them out of the CFL wilderness. The hapless Cats have signed the former league Most Outstanding Player to a three year deal, worth a reported $500,000 per season. That, I suspect, leaves Jason Maas as the odd man out in the Tabbies quarterback rotation. Although, based on Timmy Chang's "performance" last week, the Cats may keep Maas around as the back-up, and bump Chang back down to 3rd string status.

So, now Hamilton boasts an elite quarterback (Printers), running back (Jesse Lumsden) and linebacker (Zeke Moreno). One question - who is Printers expected to throw the ball to? With all due respect to U of R Rams alumnus Chris Bauman, Hamilton's receiving corps doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of too many CFL defensive coordinators!

Ah I think that it's like Christmas time in the Ti Cat receiver corner now.

Maas hasn't been the same since his surgery and has had a horrible time throwing the ball all year (though the vision of that third quarter drop on the way to the endzone haunts all Ti Cats)

Chang is probably still shaking from his exposure to the CFL front lines, so it's not fair to him either.

I think it's a good fit for the Cats, he's already proven himself in the CFL so the Cats are getting a known quantity.

Of course they're paying him so much money that probably the entire O line will have to be fired and a new less expensive group of unemployed Auto workers hired on, but such is the price of stardom. (Then again considering what Autoworkers make it might be cheaper to keep the existing line)

Too bad he wont' be ready for the Argo rematch, would be interesting to see how the Cats responded.

Check out the Ti Cats website, they're sure making the most of their investment..

So how'd you like to be Maas or Chang this week - knowing that whatever you do this week, it's Printers' team from here on in? That's gotta be a teensy bit demoralizing.

Yep, leave it to the tech-savvy Bob Young crew to pounce (Tigers? Pounce? Ha!) on the web marketing possibilities this signing creates.

You've been on the coast too long. In Hamilton it's unemployed STEELworkers!
