The Regina Pats were humbled 3-0 by the Moose Jaw Warriors on home ice Sunday night. Losing to a last place team is bad enough. But getting shut out? On home ice? Ugh. The Pats should look into signing up Cialis as a sponsor if the offence continues to suffer from impotency.
I lost count of how many times Pats shooters missed the net completely last night, including 3-4 times with a wide-open cage. When I asked about that on the CKRM post-game show, Assistant Coach Terry Perkins correctly attributed it to a lack of focus. The question is - why can't this group focus on the task at hand at this point in the season?
Once again, the players came out flat. This time they didn't show signs of life until the third period. Great game to watch if you're suffering from a sleep disorder. So, now the Pats are riding a three game losing skid, and the very tough Kootenay Ice come to town Friday night. Needless to say, a significantly better effort will be required to keep that game from getting out of hand. Speaking of Central Division opponents, the Pats sport a glistening record of 4-14 this season against teams from that division. Ugh again.

Right on the money Pete. Dead on!
They were outscored 11-4 on the weekend. Can't win much like that.
Just think-Lethbridge will miss the playoffs...yuk
Duval scored the winning goal for Calgary over Kamloops..now has 18g...yuk
Macdonald has has 22goals and bunch of assists for PA...yuk
we now have a power outage...yuk
do they expect to win the first round at home??
This team seems to be falling back into its old ways at the worst possible time.
Nothing new in Patsville, they are totally overrated and they will not pass through the first round.
This has nuttin to do with peaking too early, they do not have the guns to knock anyone down.
I herd the Pats signed scoring star Matt Strueby to a contract, good time to bring him in and give him some experience before he gets a shot at the league next year.
While I don't have a crystal ball to say they won't get past the first round, they have some challenges ahead.
-they have to make the playoffs.
-they have to be better on the road.
-they have to start consistently beating teams from the Central Div.
-they have to pump up their scoring.
-they have to stop losing to lower placed teams.
-they have to refocus on defense.
They played two game in Alberta and got nothing. They had the winning goal scored against them in both games with less than 5 mins left. They got caught on defensive lapses against good teams. Had they played for the tie, they would have had at least 2 points with chances to get the extra one.
They could possibly get by the first round if they can hang onto 2nd place. They will however get no further. They can't beat anyone from Alberta and their 4-14 proves that.
Can't disagree on any of those points. Wish I could, but the facts are what they are. The Pats are the second best team in the WHL's weakest division. I wish I could honestly label them as a contender for the Eastern Conference crown, but that would require some heavy-duty rose-coloured glasses.
Here something...I don,t think they have beat a .500 or better team on the road this year!! Early in the year they beat Brandon in a shootout(don't know if they were .500 at the time) Beat Swift a month back(don't know if the Broncos were .500 at the time) Zilch in the BC swing. Zilch in the Alberta swings. Prett hard to win league championships like that.
