GainerGate

I feel as though I'm the only person in Saskatchewan not worked into a frenzy over the great Gainer debate. In case you've missed it, the Calgary Stampeders have forbidden the Riders' mascot from patrolling the sidelines during Sunday's CFL west semi-final at McMahon Stadium.

Rider fans are up in arms over the perceived slight. Stampeders officials are sticking to their guns (presumably 22 caliber). Rodents everywhere are painting signs and preparing to march en masse.

You just know the players and respective coaching staffs are loving this. The longer the spotlight shines on the giant rat, the longer they can prepare for Sunday's game in relative tranquility. It'd be a brilliant PR move, if it was intentional. Geez, even Yoda is threatening to watch the game, to see what all the excitement is about. Well played, Gainer. Well played indeed.

Gainer's the cure to the QB controversy, and from us focusing on Burris every day this week.

I like the hype it's provided, and am surprised Rod Pedersen is embarassed over helping to start the controversy by reporting it on his blog.

Rod likes a lot of things, but being in the center of a controversy isn't one of them.

GainerGate has sure given the Rider fans travelling to (or already in) Calgary something to get excited about. Wish I could be there.

Ultimately who cares....Gainer will not be the reason the Riders win or lose. It will be about who plays well enough to win.
These teams are close but contolling the lines on both sides of the ball, mistakes, and making the required plays will determine the outcome. Points from turnovers just kill you. The defense will be the difference.

FRIDAY AT THE DOME - Adam Byblow was horrible BUT not the reason the Pats lost. Rowatt gave up two very weak goals in the third. They had a commanding 4-1 lead and he gave up a weak short side goal and another between his wickets. Lazaruk on the other hand was splendid. The Pats still have a goaltending problem. We have lost 4 or 5 games because of weak tending. Take them from the loss colum and add them to the win, Well you see the result. we are probably atop the division. Reich looks to be a nice addition but we still need another sniper and a tough D-man.

Missed the game last night. Looking forward to seeing how the Pats rebound tonight. It'll be Chris Hodges and I handling the broadcast, as Rod gets set up in Calgary for the Riders vs Stamps.

The Pats sure have placed a lot of faith in a 17-year old 'tender. Worked out pretty well last night (Harding). Hopefully Rowat cranks his play up a notch or two. Completely agree on the sniper and physical d-man. At times Schira and/or Ross show signs of being that guy. But not consistently enough.

Err, I meant last "time" as opposed to last night. Just to be clear.
