No, it's not Robin Figren from Edmonton. Actually, this one is a bit of a head-scratcher. Jagow has 9 goals. DePape has 7. Granted, he did score 25 last year.
PATS ACQUIRE DEPAPE FROM PRINCE ALBERT
Regina, Saskatchewan –The Regina Pats announced this afternoon that they have made a two player trade with the Prince Albert Raiders. The Pats are acquiring 19 year old forward Ryan DePape, in exchange the Pats are shipping 19 year old forward Jared Jagow and a 3rd round bantam pick in 2008 to the Raiders.
DePape, the native of Winnipeg, MB, was the Raiders 1st Round Bantam Draft pick in 2003 when he was taken 3rd overall. So far this season DePape (6’2”, 214Ib) has scored 7 goals and added 12 assists for 19 points. Last season DePape scored 25 goals and added 31 assists to go along with 79 penalty minutes, in 43 games.
Jagow, the native of Rosetown, SK, has appeared in 35 games with the Pats this season, and has accumulated 9 goals and added 6 assists. Jagow (5’11”, 180lb) came to the Pats as a listed player in 2006, after a strong career with the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors.
“It’s hard to see Jared go, but we believe we have upgraded our team in terms of both offence and size. Ryan will be a good fit for our team and should provide us with additional character and grit down the stretch and in the play-offs.” commented Brent Parker, General Manager of the Regina Pats.

I agree with you that this is a bit puzzling. I wonder aloud if Depape is a 3rd round pick upgrade over Jagow. Jags was a very fine penalty killer. Lets hope they have plan behind that one. Depape was very good for the Raiders last year in the playoffs. I think he scored one or two winning goals. He should score more here and his playoff experience won't hurt.
Have you noticed that the Pats have quickly become a huge team? They will likely need it to compete with MJ. They have Wihsart, Mclaren and Granthham who are all 6'4"' - 6'5". If they go against each other it will be like the clash of the titans.
Obviously through all of this, landing that goal scorer still seems elusive. Figren would have been a nice piece to the puzzle but he evidently doesn't want to come here. So Pete, where do we get an offensive player?
It seems they're banking on DePape and Watt rediscovering their scoring touch.
I see that Ofukany scored twice in his first game with Red Deer. Go figure.
It looks like everyone was scrambling after the Pats made the last deals. MJ went and got Wishart. Swift added two d-men and even Brandon added another big d-man. I guess size matters this year in the eastern division.
I see Edmonton hasn't done anything with Figren yet. Maybe by adding Sonne, they are going to take a run at the last playoff spot. Not likely though.
As of right now there has not been near as much movement as I would have thought. The WHL site is very quiet. Probably because the also-rans have all been picked clean already, and a lot of teams still think they have a good shot.
If Offie had produced like that here, he may still be here.
