- I don't know how the Riders manage to keep winning with the ridiculous number of injuries they've accumulated over the first five weeks of the season. What a testament to depth and coaching.
- I hated watching the last three quarters of the game on tv, as opposed to being in the stadium. But, my kid is genuinely afraid of thunderstorms, so we bolted at the end of the first quarter.
- Yesterday I was reminded how frustrating it can be to have Kerry Joseph as your starting quarterback.
- Steven Jyles. There may be hope for him yet!
- Wow, there sure are a lot of people who aren't pleased about the Pats selection of Dale Derkatch as the new head coach. I get that, I really do. But I'm trying to keep an open mind. Check back with me around November!
- Training camp starts in 8 days, and I still haven't put together any practice plans for Jacob's RMF team. Yikes!

Monday musings

Pete - I was in the Agridome as a young man the last time the Pats were in the League final. It was an electric atmosphere omg..it was a QUARTER OF A CENTURY ago....but I digress.
On the weekend I had the privlage of talking with an ex-owner of the Pats. He made some very interesting observations.
The first point he made was eye opening. He said by the 7th year of their ownership the media was already on them for not building a winner, it got worse in the 8th year and by the 9th year there was open speculation in the papers as to whom and when the team would be sold. He mused that the current ownership group has been given a free ride in the media for the last several years. Who could disagree!
The next point he made was that they had tried the ex-Pat legend thing as Coach/GM with dismal results. He said that then as now, ego's got in the way and the job never got properly done. He said they should have brought a proven "winner", not just an experienced coach. Go and get the other teams best guy, pay him lots more, and let him do the rest. That never happened and they never won anything. Does that sound familiar?
This shtik has been done before. Player legends often don't become coaching legends. When Parker didn't hire a proven winner he sent a message to the knowledgeable fans. That message is he doesn't want to win if he has to give up any control. It is much like the previous ownership just different names. All we can do at this point is wish Derkacth good luck, he will need it.
