Once again, the Regina Pats have done wonders for the confidence of a WHL bottom feeder. Talk about generosity! This time, the Pats (who firmly believe they're an elite-calibre team) dropped a 3-2 overtime decision in Saskatoon. The Pats led 2-0 before the game was six minutes old.
The win is just the Blades' 12th of the year, however Saskatoon does have an impressive home record of 10-4 so far this season. Still, Regina has now lost six times to the weakest teams in the league - twice to Saskatoon and Red Deer, and once each to Prince Albert and Portland. Elite teams shouldn't be losing those games. On the bright side, the Pats are still on pace for a 42 win season - so it's not as if the team is falling apart at the seams.
The Pats take on Moose Jaw in a home-and-home series this weekend. Obviously, a better effort will be required against the Warriors, who have only one regulation time loss in their last ten games.

Mornin Pete! I too watched the game last night and was very unimpressed. Your comment about the Pats thinking they have an elite team is very succinct! They are a good second level team in the league but not elite.
To get to that level is elusive and may not happen this year, with Parker maybe never. I suspect there is an ego thing going on here. This is the fruits of his 4-5 year rebuilding program and frankly most hockey people I have talked to are not impressed either. To make a major trade would be another admission that he has not got the job done , again. However if he doesn't bolster the team, it will drop in the standings and fans will become even more jaded.
We have reached the mid point last night. Some are saying well that means we will have 42 wins by the end of the season. People get a grip, the Pats second half is very very tough. They have 3 Central road trips to places like Kootney, Calgary, Lethbridge not mention other tough road trips. Equalling 38 wins of last year will be tough enough.
Both Brandon and MJ have 4 games in hand on us. We already have 14 losses. The Hat and Vancouver had 17 each for the entire season last year. Our loss colum has grown too much. Our goals against are too high, ratio bad, still discipline issues ie; Kraus taking 10 min misconduct at the end of the game. He should have been on the ice during the OT. Combine that with some guys still not playing at elite level and the picture gets clearer. I wonder where this is going to go.
They have two games left (tonight and tomorrow) to make me a believer. Otherwise, the roster will need a shake-up over the Christmas break.
