I'm already looking forward to Saturday night's tilt between the Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos. By beating Lethbridge 5-4 last night (almost blowing a 5-1 lead!), the Pats moved a point up on the Broncos for second spot in the WHL's East Division. However, the boys from Speedy Creek have a game in hand, and will actually play twice (including tonight) before they visit the Brandt Centre this weekend.
Despite a couple of close calls, the Pats have only lost twice in regulation time in their last ten starts. If they lose the inclination to let their collective feet off the gas pedal in the late-going, who knows what sort of results could follow? I'm looking forward to (hopefully) finding out. I'm also looking forward to sitting in the stands with the Jakester Saturday night. Usually his antics are just as entertaining as the action on the ice!

In many recent games they have not won pretty. They have blown a couple of big leeds only to end up barely winning. The fact though is that they did win and how can you be unhappy with that. There is some concern in my mind that the players haven't fully bought into the new defensive scheme the coaches are trying to run.
Rowat held the team in during the first period but he really stunk in the third. A soft short side goal and one between his pad put Lethbridge back in the game. He wasn't very stellar in the third against MJ either. The goaltending still has to be much better for any kind of a playoff run.
The real test starts now. Are the Pats going to start making some noise and create some seperation from the pack?? This team is still a huge question mark. They will have to play well and consistent to advance. They have an outside shot at first as well as a shot at not making the playoffs. A mini 3-4 game skid could put them in big trouble as well a 3-5 game run could give them a shot at first.
