Are you kidding me?

Apparently this week marked the first-ever recorded snowfall in the Regina area. Either that, or it's official that the average driver in this city is a moron!

Case in point - The Levwan (a major arterial roadway) generally has a speed limit of 70 km/h. Roadways are a little slippery this week, so I understand the need to slow down a bit. But 30 km/h? 40 clicks below the speed limit!?!?! Are you such an incompetent driver that you need that 40 km/h cushion..........just because? If you or your vehicle can't handle the current road conditions, here's a thought - take the bus or stay the hell at home!

And you folks with the super sub-compacts and "smart" cars - how are you enjoying your excellent fuel economy in the snow? Although I applaud the attempt at fuel conservation and environmental stewardship, those little buggies aren't the most practical for a climate that features at least five months a year of snow and ice.

On a positive note, the Regina Pats return to action on home ice this evening. It looks as though General Manager Brent Parker has all but given up on adding a second European player to the roster this season. That's unfortunate. Hopefully Brent can address his team's obvious shortcomings (can't score, not even at JD's on single mom night) through a trade or two. Yoda's even coming to the game, and joining us in the pressbox for tomorrow night's tilt as well. I suppose she'll expect me to share my popcorn...

I hope the guys do well tonite but it's not going to be easy. The Raiders are playing like .750 hockey in their last 4 games....

It's pretty tough to get a diamond for 2 peices of cubic zirconia. The Pats would have to move Deck and a couple of other players to get something special, and even then I don't know how many takers they would have. He has no 19 yr old talent and only marginal 18 yr old talent. It beginning to smell like rebuild all over again. I got some issues about the talent pool (or lack of it) and the scouting that brought it here..I will save those comments for another day!!!!

Yeah, Jesse Deckert's playing like the second coming of Jacques Plante for the Raiders. Mind you, he's never been great at the Agridome/Brandt Centre - maybe that works in the Pats favour.

It's tough when you score 4 in your own building against a lower placed club...and...still lose! They have a tendency to do that ie; Kootney last time here.

Having no 19 or 20 yr old d-men is hurting at lot. If Reinhardt doesn't want to be here hopefully they can get something for him, the Bernhardt situation has got to get resolved. Benching him is not helping the team or the kid. Deck was injured a bunch last year. He has been injured a bunch this year again. He won't come close to putting 2/3 of a season. His knee is real bad and he is very fragile. He isn't going to be able to help the club very much. They may have to do whats best for the club and obtain a healthy veteran d-man. Cole Simpson is available and he was plus 30 with the Warriors last year.

I loved the way the Pats played last nite. I like responsible, structured defensive teams. If you notice in the standings Brandon has given up more goals than the Pats. Mind you they have scored a bunch more.

If the Pats can start focusing on defense and create offense from mistakes they could start winning more on the road. They have enough quickness to score on turnovers. Just wait for them. When they get Hulak that will help a lot but they still need another offense kinda guy to help the PP. A veteran d-man would be a help as well.

If the PP and PK inprove a lot they will be in good shape. We can't compete with Brandon if we go goal for goal. We can evolve into a better defensive club and win a lot of tight ones.

They did Ok at home and actually have only failed to get points in two home games I believe. It is the road games that concern me because we can never make up any points when on the road. The next 5 games could make or break their season as far a position in the standings are concerned.

I also loved the way the Pats played last night. More grit than I've seen from this club in a few years. And once Curtis Hunt figured out I was actually trying to compliment Niko Snellman on the post-game show, things went even better.

Hopefully they can pull two points out of Swift Current tonight. That should give them a big shot of confidence for the games in Alberta next weekend. Hopefully.

Just listened to the game and boy I am VERY disappointed. This team didn't put any fire into their game until the 56 minute mark. The score probably flattered them. They will tell you no doubt they got jobbed but the truth is a goal at the 20 minute mark is rarely counted unless you have the high tech NHL style equipment. You are not going to find that in Swift.

I think some people as well as the coaches got a little too gushy about the Red Deer game. Really it was only one game! They came out and played a bit uninspired for 56 minutes. Sounded again like the front of the net is place they relly don't like. MY GOD this was a 2nd place battle and they LOST. If you can't get up for a game like that, you never will.

This team truly sucks on the road. I don't know why they feel they have to get down 2 or 3 zip every time they go into some other barn. Calgary will be waiting for them as well as Red Deer. That is not looking like a very promising trip. They didn't do anything last week personel wise. For a team fighting for top spot 3 of 6 pts with two games at home is not stellar. Newsflash Brent Parker, you need help.

I am deeply disappointed that not one coach /GM came on after the game. People who faithfully listen deserve a better post game show than we get. On the Western swing there were no post game comments for 3 or 4 games. Teams from the past had coaches/Gm's who would come on after every single game, no matter how good or bad. These guys just don't come on if they don't feel like. I am not impressed.

This team gets you excited one night and then lays an egg the next. It is not what championship teams are made of. They have to be consistently better each night and they simply are not. Their scoring weaknesses really show up when they leave the Brandt Center.

I'm not sure how things work for the post-game shows on the road. At home, one of the Pats staff comes into the broadcast booth with a few minutes left in the game, and asks which player we want. Then either Curtis or Terry joins us as well. There may be a perfectly logical reason for the discrepancy on the road (limited time, game goes late and approaches the top of hour "window" to flip to other programming), but I can't say with any certainty.

As for the Pats road woes in general..........true dat.
